Lamar Opera Theatre's production of The Magic Flute

Lamar University Opera Theatre will perform opera scenes featuring works by American composers Leonard Bernstein, Gian Carlo Menotti, Stephen Sondheim, Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber Nov. 21 - 23 in the Rothwell Recital Hall.

The performance features a number of selections from Bernstein’s “Trouble in Tahiti,” which the Lamar Opera Theatre will stage a full production of in spring 2015. In addition to “Trouble in Tahiti,” the evening of opera scenes will include music from Bernstein’s “West Side Story,” Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” and “A Little Night Music,” Copland’s “The Tender Land,” Barber’s “A Hand of Bridge” and “Vanessa,” and Menotti’s “The Consul” and “The Old Maid and the Thief.”

All scenes and arias are performed in English with projected supertitles of synopses and other information.
