Band Camp II and Percussion Camp
|Starts:||June 22, 2014|
|Ends:||June 26, 2014|
|Location:||Simmons Music Building|
High school students (entering grades 9–12) are invited to attend the High School band and percussion camp hosted by the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music.
The camp offers a tremendous growth experience for high school wind and percussion players. Students participate in band rehearsals, chamber ensembles, private lessons, and master classes. Additionally, elective courses include music composition, conducting, history of American music, jazz improvisation, and more. Percussionists participate in an additional percussion camp, where they learn a wide variety of percussion techniques. Percussion classes include instruction on drum set, Brazilian drums, marching percussion, and accessory instruments. Students may live on-campus and eat in the Dining Hall. Evening activities include off-campus movies, student chamber music recitals, faculty recital, and a performance by the camp jazz ensemble. The camp culminates with a grand concert, including the percussion ensemble and all bands.
Cost is $375 (early registration by June 3) or $395 (after June 3) for the full resident tuition (includes tuition, room, meals and recreation), and $275 (by June 3)/$295 (after June 3) for commuter tuition (includes tuition and recreation).
