Lamarissimo Cardinal Jazz Singers with Lauren Kinhan

Lamar University’s acclaimed Lamarissimo! Concert Series concludes Thursday, April 24, with the premiere concert of the Cardinal Jazz Singers. Guest artist Lauren Kinhan, of the Grammy-Award winning New York Voices, will perform at the concert, which will feature classic jazz standards, gospel and sacred music from The Manhattan Transfer, Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy and others. The program, sponsored by Entergy Texas, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Julie Rogers Theatre for the Performing Arts.
A talented vocalist and composer, Kinhan has been a member of the New York Voices since 1992. Her career has taken her all over the world, working with renowned musicians such as Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Bobby McFerrin, Paquito D’Rivera, Jon Hendricks, Annie Ross, Ivan Lins and The Manhattan Transfer. Kinhan has also released three solo CDs: “Circle in a Square,” “Avalon” and “Hardly Blinking.” She will sing original music from her CDs at the Lamarissimo! concert.
The Cardinal Jazz Singers are directed by jazz vocalist and music educator Rebecca Windham, instructor of music at Lamar
Tickets are $18 adult, $12 student (K-12). Admission is free to Lamar University students with ID at door.
