Empty Bowl Making Marathon to help feed the hungry
The "Empty Bowl" Bowl Making Marathon is an event where anyone can come and make a bowl to be donated to the Empty Bowl Auction later in the year. Empty Bowls is a national grassroots movement to help feed the hungry. The proceeds from the auction of all of the bowls will go directly to the Southeast Texas Food Bank.
The Department of Art will have students on hand to guide participants through any process they wish to try, from pinch pots and coil pots, to throwing a bowl on a ceramics wheel. Fledspar, the Department of Art ceramics club, will fire the bowls and glaze them to be ready for the auction. This event is sponsored by the Dishman and Feldspar. It is free and open to the public.
