Summer Dance Intensive

At the Lamar University Summer Dance Intensive, July 22-26, students study ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop dance with our stellar lineup of professional dancers.
Dancers choose to attend full or half days. For participants who pre-pay and register for the intensive by July 15, the cost for the full-day intensive is $250 per person and half-day prices are $150 per person. Lamar students (including May 2013 graduates) as well as Lamar faculty/staff dependents receive a discount price for the full intensive of $150 per person.
Classes are held in the Lamar University Health and Human Performance Complex A & B (HHPA 208 and HHPB Dance Annex 100) buildings' dance studios. Check-in on Monday, July 22, will be held in the HHPB Dance Annex 100 from 8 - 8:30 am. Late registration will be conducted at this time for $300/dancer for the full intensive or $200/dancer for the half-day intensive.
We have two Summer Dance Intensive sessions based on age. Our Junior Intensive classes for our younger students (completed 3rd through 7th grades) begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm. Senior Intensive classes (for completed 8th grade through adults) begin at 8:15 and end at 5:00 pm. Lunch is held for both sessions from 11:30-12:30 each day, Monday through Thursday and lunch on Friday will be from 11:00-11:45. Students may bring cash ($6.00/meal) to eat in the Lamar Dining Hall or a sack lunch to eat in the Dance Annex.
On Friday, friends and family of students who participate are invited to attend a presentation of dance. The Junior Intensive presentation will begin at 4:00 pm and the Senior Intensive presentation will begin at 4:30 pm.
Students 18 and older from outside the Southeast Texas area who wish to attend the Lamar University Summer Dance Intensive (full day of classes only) have the option of staying at Lamar University's Cardinal Village for $25 per night, Sunday through Thursday nights, for a total of $125. Students may add Friday night for an additional $25 if needed.
Students who are under 18 may stay at Cardinal Village with a guardian, parent or chaperone. There must be a minimum of one adult per 20 minor students at all times.
All residential students and chaperones need to provide their own linens and toiletry items including twin sheets, blankets, pillow, towel, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Meals may be purchased separately in the dining hall.
Residential registration must be paid in full before July 1, 2013.
